ILM Shipping partners HIPG to speed up vehicle clearance at Hambantota
A ten-strong local team, working shifts, now supports imported vehicle releases at Hambantota International Port — a partnership built on graduates from the surrounding districts.
ILM Shipping has entered a strategic partnership with Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG) to provide customer service support at the port's gatehouse, with a newly formed team of Sri Lankan professionals handling the release of imported vehicles to HIPG's operating standards.
Under the agreement, ILM deploys ten people — one senior officer and nine support staff — working on shift to keep vehicle clearance moving through the day.

Hiring from the districts around the port
Silva noted that the team is made up of young graduates living in the districts around Hambantota — "bright, energetic individuals with the knowledge and commitment needed to maintain the highest standards" — and that they complete an intensive two-week training programme before starting operational duties.
For the group, the agreement is another step in ILM's expansion into integrated logistics support and client-facing service inside Sri Lanka's growing port and shipping industry.
